Join us at the Tybee Post Theater on February 4th for an evening dedicated to the rhythm of the tides. The City of Tybee, in partnership with the Georgia Conservancy and the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve, invites you to a curated screening of short films that go beneath the surface of our coastal landscape. This event is free and open to the public.
We are excited to be one of the featured films and panelists, and will be screening our film focused on protecting the critically endangered North Atlantic Right Whale. With fewer than 400 North Atlantic Right Whales surviving today, their migration paths, nurseries, and hangout spots are crucial to their species’ survival. Vessel strikes are the leading cause of death among these critically endangered whales. At Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary, the Foundation has helped install 9 Automatic Identification Systems that alert vessels when they are in areas where Right Whales are commonly found.
